The Absent Truth

In the middle of war of all wars
A warrior stood and with his sword he rose
He had no choice but to kill the beast
Swords had clashed and shields had smashed
Where warriors gathered in a blood feast
But the beast he was after was gone
He searched the battle ground for it and kept searching until dawn
He surfed the edges of the earth and waited for a long time
But the beast had vanished and the world became fine
So the warrior picked up his sword and returned home
Lighted up fire, sat on his chair and sang alone
"Oh! My beast, what have you done! "
"You left me here look what I become"
"I am a soldier I despise living like this"
"You stole my last battle, for that I confess"
For years the warrior sat on that chair
Singing his song and through the window he stares
Sorrow tears fell free from his eyes
So weak under his armor he disguises
For him this safe and secured life was fake
All he needed was a sword, a shield and lives he would take
At the end his body fell apart
And at that old wooden chair he died
But after reading his story with care…
Was the beast really there?
Once a soldier, always a soldier...can't quit
Does the song deliver the sadness of the warrior?
